This aggregation was also assembled to provide a forum dedicated to performing original compositions and arrangements. The ensemble performs a wide variety of compositions, many by some of Boston’s best-known writers including: Ted Pease, Dick Lowell, Bob Freedman, and Phil Wilson.

Café Teatro Especial

Larry Harlow Orchestra

Larry Harlow is a master legend of the Latin music we now call "Salsa". During the late 50s, he was so fascinated with Latin rhythms that he traveled to Cuba to live and study the real Afro-Cuban sounds that are the roots of Salsa. As an expert Salsa artist, he returned to New York to develop his own style and orchestra and later to help create the internationally famous Fania All-Stars group.

He was the primary force in attaining recognition for Latin Artists throughout the world by instituting the first Grammy for Latin music. He himself has been nominated for a Grammy for his album "La Raza Latina" a Salsa Suite.

See The Boston Repertory Jazz Orchestra

The baddest big band to call Boston home since they closed the Hi-Hat ... Under the artistic direction of music veterans Carl Atkins and Bill Lowe, the BJRO is Boston's answer to the repertory big bands of New York, Chicago and Washington ... The BJRO's repertoire ranges from the classic jazz repertory of artists like Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus or Sun Ra - to original compositions and arrangements by the band leaders and members - some of the top-level artists working today - to works by unheralded masters like Bill Barron, James 'Jabbo' Ware, to contributions by band members and special guests ... Look for their Equinox Music Festival debut in September... For booking information on the BJRO please call 617/373-4374 or email bjro@jcmcsite.com
